Oct 20 Mon International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Manhattan This umbrella term refers to all the national and international organizations allowed to use the Red Cross or Red Crescent emblem and all the activities they undertake to relieve human suffering throughout the world. Oct 23 Thu Introduction to International Humanitarian Law 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm Manhattan Introduction to International Humanitarian Law is intended to raise awareness among Red Cross representatives and general audiences about the Geneva Conventions, the basic rules of International Humanitarian Law, and the role of the Red Cross during armed conflict to implement IHL. Oct 23 Thu Hometown Heroes 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm Putnam County The American Red Cross in Greater New York will recognize Putnam County citizens who performed heroic acts and made a difference in our community. 10 Putnam County Heroes will receive the Hometown Heroes Award at the Red Cross’s inaugural Dinner and Silent Auction on October 23, 2008 at Villa Barone in Mahopac.
