Pets are important family members and need to be considered when creating a preparedness plan.

Only sevice animals are allowed in shelters
- It's critical when choosing a meeting place to select a pet-friendly
  environment
- Make sure to have restraints:
     - leashes
     - muzzles if necessary
- Make sure to have a carrying case easily accessible
- If you have to leave your pets, be sure to close them in one room
     - to keep them from hurting themselves
     - so emergency personnel can get to them quickly
- Make sure your pet has a current license and tag
- Check if your vet or groomer provides shelter during emergencies
