During emergencies local phone lines are often jammed, so choose an emergency contact person who lives outside your immediate area. This is the first person you and your family members will call in an emergency, so he or she should be easy reachable via email, cell phone, voice mail, etc.
Your contact person may have only a few seconds to get critical information from you.
Tell your contact:
- how you are
- where you are
Your contact will relay to you:
- whom they have heard from
- where those people are
All family members must know the emergency contact person's phone number and email. After you choose Family Meeting Places, you'll be creating Contact Cards for everyone in your family.
