Do you know the best way to get out in an emergency?
Or if you were instructed to stay inside, do you know which room offers the best shelter?
- Draw a floor plan of your home or residence
- Put in place all windows and doors
- Identify two escape routes
- Identify where you would go if you were told to stay in your house. Ideally, choose an interior room with the fewest doors and windows
- Identify the location of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency supplies, and utility shut-offs
Important note: If you live in a high rise, know your building evacuation plan.
