Dozens of New York Chapter volunteers and employees marched up Manhattan's Fifth Avenue from 44th to 86th Streets in the 50th annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, June 10. An estimated three million people lined the parade route on a beautiful early-summer day, waving flags and cheering on the marchers, floats and high school bands. Chapter CEO Theresa A. Bischoff and ARC/GNY personnel, supported by an Emergency Response Vehicle, gave enthusiastic spectators literature in English and Spanish with information on how to prepare for any emergency by getting a kit, making a plan and being informed.
