Volunteer Mary Cohen Helps Sullivan County Residents During Emergencies

The recent flash flooding in the Roscoe area demonstrated again the commitment of Red Cross Disaster Services volunteers who are part of the American Red Cross in Greater New York.

Mary N. Cohen, who lives in Monticello, headed the Red Cross mass care response on June 22 - 24, ensuring that meals were available to residents, emergency responders and Red Cross personnel. Ms. Cohen has been a Red Cross volunteer since 1998, giving generously of her time during 9/11, during floods that have affected Sullivan County and with day-to-day emergency response.  Ms. Cohen is an employee of the Sullivan County Transportation Department and also works at WalMart in Monticello.

Ms. Cohen embodies the role of an American Red Cross Disaster Services Volunteer – a neighbor who is always there and ready to help.  Through the selfless generosity of volunteers, the American Red Cross is able to provide assistance to people when they need it most.
