The Manhattan office of the American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) participated in the 24th annual National Night Out Against Crime neighborhood event Tuesday, August 7, from 5 to 9 pm. The important event was held at Hell's Kitchen Park on 10th Avenue and 47th Street, just two blocks away from ARC/GNY headquarters on 49th Street. Red Cross volunteers distributed vital safety and preparedness information to area residents and explained the importance of the three emergency preparedness steps—putting together an emergency supplies kit, making a plan and being informed—that Red Cross urges everyone to take before a fire, blackout, flood, building collapse or other disaster occurs.
