The American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) was on the scene at the former Deutsche Bank Building at 130 Liberty Street in Manhattan from August 18 through 20 supporting New York City firefighters, police and emergency workers after a tragic 7-alarm blaze took the lives of two firefighters. More than 30 Chapter relief workers provided more than 1,000 meals and beverages and 3,000 snacks to first responders. The building, which has been vacant since 9/11 when a section of the south World Trade tower fell into it, was in the process of being demolished. The fire broke out on the 17th floor on August 18, spreading to floors 14 to 26.
