In response to Tropical Storm Noel that struck the Caribbean on October 29 and 30, the American Red Cross is providing the following support:
- A Regional Response Intervention Team (RIT) member from the American Red Cross is in Haiti for Hurricane Dean recovery efforts and is able to support current response activities related to Tropical Storm Noel.
- The American Red Cross Head of Programs in Haiti is coordinating with various response partners.
- Additional response options include the deployment of personnel, providing relief supplies and forwarding financial assistance.
The American Red Cross is accepting financial contributions for Tropical Storm Noel response and relief efforts. The funds will be used to provide 15,000 people (10,000 in the Dominican Republic and 5,000 in Haiti) with food, water, hygiene articles, kitchen sets, mosquito nets and tarpaulins during the next six months.
Contributions by check made payable to the American Red Cross can be sent to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Contributions also can be made by telephone at 1-800-HELP NOW.
The American Red Cross honors donor intent. If donors wish to designate donations to a specific disaster, they should do so at the time of their donation. Designated gifts related to Tropical Storm Noel should be directed to the following fund: AP 2024, Caribbean Emergency Response Operations.
