Four New Members Join Chapter Board of Trustees
November 6, 2007

At the Board of Trustees meeting at Chapter Headquarters on October 31, the Chapter officially welcomed four new Board members: Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, of the Abyssinian Baptist Church; Mr. Blake Moore CEO, Managing Director, Allianz Global Investors U.S. Retail, LLC; Mr. Sanjay Swan, General Partner, Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe; and Ms. Ellen Todd, Special Education Principal Sullivan County BOCES. 

Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, has been pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church, one of Harlem's largest churches, since 1989. He is committed to the church"s goal of creating a viable, dynamic community in central Harlem. To help achieve this goal, Dr. Butts helped form the Abyssinian Development Corporation, a comprehensive non-profit community development corporation which has been responsible for $300 to $500 million in development activity in Harlem. In 1999, Dr. Butts was named SUNY-Old Westbury’s President. Since then, he has reinvigorated one of the most diverse public college campuses in America. Dr. Butts is a sought-after speaker on social, religious, educational and ethical issues. He is married with three children.

Blake Moore is CEO, Managing Director, Allianz Global Investors U.S. Retail. Based in New York City, the company is responsible for retail marketing and distribution for Allianz-owned asset managers in the U.S. Before joining Allianz Global Investors in 2004, Mr. Moore served in a variety of roles for more than 10 years at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management. Mr. Moore serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Investment Advisor Association, and was President of the IAA from 2005 to 2007. Before joining Nicholas-Applegate, Mr. Moore was in private practice as a business attorney. He also spent six years as an offensive lineman in the NFL, playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers. He and his wife live in New York City and have two grown children.

Sanjay Swani is a general partner with the private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, where he focuses on investments in the business and information services industries. Welsh, Carson, a New-York based private equity firm, has assets under management in excess of $15 billion.  Prior to joining the company in 1999, Mr. Swani worked with Fox Paine & Company, a private equity firm in San Francisco.  He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Everybody Wins!, a New York based organization focused on children’s literacy. Mr. Swani lives in Manhattan with his wife and three children.

Ellen Todd is Special Education Principal in the Sullivan County BOCES based in Liberty, New York. She began her professional career as an educator after earning a degree in music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She went on for a Master’s in Education from Rutgers University and a certificate in advanced studies in educational administration from SUNY New Paltz. Currently, she is in the dissertation phase of her doctoral studies in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her mission is to best serve children through education and brings this mission to her work with the Chapter in Sullivan County.
