After a 2-alarm fire destroyed a private two-story house at 63 Jules Drive in Graniteville, Staten Island, on January 8, Greater New York Chapter disaster responders came to the aid of 9 adults and 4 children who fled the dwelling. Red Cross provided them with compassion and care in the form of food, beverages and blankets. Two households of 8 adults and 4 children ranging in age from 5 months to 6 years old were also provided with emergency overnight housing.
