New York City Council Member Inez Dickens of Manhattan’s 9th District, Greater New York Chapter Manhattan Director Sonia I. Martinez, and Assemblyman Herman Farrell Jr., at the presentation.

A Ready New York preparedness program was hosted by Assemblyman Herman Farrell Jr. of New York State's 71st Assembly District, in conjunction with the Greater New York Chapter Manhattan Office on January 25. The approximately 50 people who attended the free event, held at Manhattan"s Esplanade Gardens on 147th Street, learned how to create a family disaster plan, build and maintain a supply kit, and keep loved ones safe and informed during times of disaster.

Each participant also received a free interactive CD that can be used to create a customized evacuation plan and other tools that will help any family get prepared and was entered into a free raffle to win a Red Cross Emergency Go Bag.
